The Diagnostic Advice Module presents possible metastases in red and in addition the likelihood of metastatic disease for the patient illustrated on a thermometer from 0 to 100%. This advice is based on Artificial Neural Networks that have been trained using a large database of bone scans interpreted by top experts in the field. The sensitivity and specificity for metastatic disease is 90% [Ref 1].
Physicians have been shown to increase their sensitivity for metastatic disease with 10% using the advice [Ref 2].
